VI .: Beyonce is stepping down...Who's the Queen Bee now?

-This post is dedicated to @_ayoobeez & @_WhoIsItMJ, my two favoritest Beyonce stans ever.

It's the question everyone's been asking. Ever since Bey announced that she was taking a six-month "break", the music world has been wondering "Who will slay while Beyonce's away?". That question will undoubtedly be answered this summer, as several R&B starlets take the opportunity to release albums, all in the attempt to get a little shine while the brightest star of the bunch takes a chill pill.

In order to answer this question, we must first identify why Beyonce is indeed the ruler in the first place. I've already touched on this in our first MMFD, but a little reiteration never hurt anyone. Here goes...

She sings. Obviously. And she does so very well. Critics may ride her material for lacking originality, which I can't particularly argue with, but there is no denying that she has a beautiful voice. Tracks like "Ave Maria", "Satellites", & "Dangerously In Love" showcase her vocal range. "Broken-Hearted Girl" and "Disappear" clearly communicate emotional distress to the listener. "Baby Boy", "Get Me Bodied", & "Freakum Dress" get the party started without missing a note. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Those three and a half octaves contain power, control, and soul.

She dances. Usually R&b-chick and dancing goes hand in hand, but a lot of arguably more talented vocalists [Brandy, Mariah Carey] cant dance a lick. So being able to dance is definitely a desirable quality. There's a standard test one must pass in order for one's dancing to be considered relevant. Aaliyah & Janet Jackson have passed this test with flying colors. When your song comes on in the club, & hoes know the choreography from the video, consider yourself in. Dont act like you didnt record "Bills, Bills, Bills" over your mama's wedding tape, or watch "Crazy In Love" on OnDemand until you had the Uh-Oh Dance down-pat. And lets not talk about "Single Ladies". At all.

She's pretty + She can dress. Thats might be where a lot of her superficial-homo fans come from, no shade. She never looks wrong, except maybe when she's between lacefronts. Beyonce is undeniably beautiful, her body is off the hook, and whoever her stylist is keeps her looking cute. Image is everything, you know.

Beyonce may not be the single most slayingest singer, dancer, or fashionista. However, no one has her beat in all three categories. Is your sandwich missing a little mayonnaise? Thats Brandy. Too much cheese? Keri. Bread and nothing else? Ashanti. Beyonce, on the other hand, has just enough of every ingredient.
