Nicki had to take the green wig off to be taken seriously, but honestly I dont see it for that wig either. However, we're not here to talk about that. We're here to discuss what she talks about in the following couple of videos. In the first she speaks to VIBE.com about the attention she's been getting, in particular from other female rappers; Check it out:
“I saw something interesting today online and I retweeted it. It said “To haters, I’m not your enemy, I’m your hero”. Cheer up. You should be happy I’m here. I’m showing you b*tches how to do it”…but I do get more love than hate.
"When people see there is one person getting a lot of shine it makes them feel unhappy with themselves, the small minded people feel unhappy. The intelligent girls take the things that they like from me and my journey and apply it to their journey. If I had it my way that’s what they’d all do.
“Everyone is not going to like Nicki Minaj. Everyone’s not going to like the way I look or what I do but I think if you’re smart you’d take from me and figure out why everyone is talking about me. I don’t think they know how to express that so they express it anger, jealousy and hatred and then that consumes them. And I’m still here”
In other Nicki news, some of you may have caught I Am Nicki on FlopTV BET. Here's a segment of the special where Nick vents on how she feels about having younger fans, which is something I think artists should pay more attention to.
I know what people want from me… but that’s not always what I want to do but I don’t want to lose them in the process. I just did something called “Sh*ting On ‘Em.” It’s real hood, its old Nicki. I just want to balance it.
It makes me feel guilty because I know how I am with my 12-year old brother, very strict. Every now and then I feel like I gotta censor it but censoring it too much I wouldn’t be Nicki Minaj. I think a part of what they like is I’m the naughty girl.
The core people I was rapping to I wasn’t expecting them to be young. So all the stuff I was saying…if I was to do a show and clean up and cater to both sides of the spectrum, I don’t even know how I [would] make that happen. If thats how she really feels about the whole younger fans issue, that might explain why her rhymes have gotten kind of silly since the Beam Me Up Scotty days. I have a feeling hearing you little sister go "wham-bam, purple Lam" just might be better than her knowing "Itty Bitty Piggy" word for word.
