VI .: You're Either IN or You're OUT: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Bryant Park became the beacon of what New York Fashion stands for- an industry that's fearless, tireless and always moving forward.

For many designers, an entire year can revolve around the chance to show a collection at the iconic tents at Bryant Park. Envisioning the tents can provide a host of inspiration for legendary, up-and-coming, and beginning designers alike. However, with the recent tragedies in Haiti, the very recent death of iconic designer Alexander McQueen, and the announcement that Lincoln Center at Damrosch Park will be the new Location for the semi-annual Fashion Week, it is interesting to see how these three situations will inspire the designers and the fashion that we see this year at Bryant Park.

Fern Mallis, senior vice president of IMG Fashion, the company that produces the shows, told the New York Times,“It was the right moment for American fashion.” And she couldn't be more right. With the evolving American Fashion, it is only natural that the location synonymous with American Fashion evolves as well.

So, What Can One anticipate from the shows this year?

With this being the last show at Bryant Park, one can almost expect this to be the BEST SHOW the tents have seen in it's 15 year history at this location. With so much anticipation, it is expected that the designers will "Put On A Show" that expresses not only innovation and creativity, but also the change in American Fashion.

So Far. . .

Since It's Kick-off last Thursday, We have seen chic designs by Household name Designers such as BGBGMAXAZRIA, Diane Von Furstenberg, Custo Barcelona, Venexiana and Lacoste, as well as Up-and-coming Designers such as Christian Sirano, FARAH ANGSANA, and VASSILIOS KOSTETSOS.
